prepped my speech so long ago. Guess it speaking was not in my genes

Speaking? In public?

Some or rather my full review of my upcoming speech.

The title - English, should it be made compulsory in SPM?

To kick off the speech, a brief explanation of facts about English language. The popularity of English cannot be denied. English was so widely spoken and written used as bridge connecting people around the world. In some countries it was used so frequently it became the local's first language instead of their official language.

This is not a scene here in Malaysia. Although we can be proud of our mother's tongue the lack of English usage was worrying especially between Malaysian students. Once, Malaysian commanded English language very efficiently as for they must use it to interact with the English colonist in our country’s colonization era. Because of these necessity even villagers at that time was a regular in using English.

One of my relative once studied in an English school and got some benefit from it. Because of his education he got a good career in post-colonization era. However this reality has long gone and now replaced with the declining of the standard of English.

So, as a initiative to prevent this alarming event to stretch to a disastrous occurrence our deputy prime minister (also acted as Minister of Education) came up with a scheme to make English subject as a “must pass” subject in SPM examination.

From this proposal, a few responses immediately surfaced with different kind of standpoint. Of course there are sides that back this plan up and others that wholly rejected this idea. One of the strong reactions came from Tun Dr Mahathir, our former Prime Minister. He said this regulation, if it became a reality will not only prepares us for globalization but also improves the future of Malaysians entirely. For example English language could give us an edge in securing jobs. For your information, Tun also once proposes the revival of English middle school (like the ones on British era).

On the other hand, the opposite side also had given their own piece of mind. It is said that English would be a huge burden to bear by majority of Malaysian students. It would hamstringing other subjects they excelled at, so said the president the Movement of Abolishing Teaching Science and Math’s in English, Datuk Dr Hassan Ahmad. For instance he said, if a student got straight A’s in other subject but failed in English subject he/she would have to retake the exam and this could harm their performance and at the same time wasted most of their time.

The third party however is more on supporting this idea. Chairman of Parent Action Group for Education, Datin Noor Azimah Abd Rahim said it could be done only after the weakness within the teaching profession that has brought down the PPSMI has been dealt with. The teachers on Malaysia should be prepared for anything like this so the inputs received by the student can be exploited efficiently moreover improves their level of education.

Finally I like to share with all of you my point of view based on the stances of this 3 party. The best way to resolute this matter turn up to be the idea of Datin Noor Azimah. It is true that this rule must be applied and it was also true that it is unfair to some students. Therefore we must prepare our teaching workforce that can provide our student with the best information that can transform our young generation to English utilization machines.

It became inevitable to us to stand up for this idea, as it will ignites the desire for the youngsters to master English furthermore brings up the standards of Malaysian English. It is not really an excuse for anyone to just said learning English is hard because if someone can get a grasp on something like physics, chemistry, and thermodynamics why can’t they become skilled at English?

To me, learning English can be done in many methods the ones that was fun to do instead of traditional teach and learn system we are using now. It has to be enjoyable otherwise it can never attract anyone to learn English.

For a conclusion, I’d say that this issue can be solved, with proper and patient approach for Malaysian is being known as the people who love to improve themselves. This can ensure that mastering English is not out of ordinary between us Malaysian in the future.

It is quite tiring to prep this speech actually, so I really appreciate your comments. Just to see how much I can grasp with this simple unpolished draft.

It's Huge..!!!

It is not a fine day, it is absolutely not. The story is, I caught a cold last week (glad it's not influenza) and instantly I knew it wasn't a good timing at all. The cold came and gone several times but then the time has come for me and my classmates go for our trip to Perak. I must tell you, it was never a pleasant trip when you had your nose blocked and snag away your freedom, your focus.

Let's forget about my cold for awhile. What's important in this trip is something that I just recently met. Yes it was something, not someone. It is true that, at times you can never really get the whole idea of something unless you've seen it with your own two big eyeballs. This thing that amaze me is the boilers of the coal powered power plant we visited at Janamanjung Perak. Well I knew some one will say "it's just a power plant" and you'll probably say that I was overrated but I must admit, the size of these gargantuan awed me to the max.

The size is one thing but just to imagine the construction and maintenance process blew up my circuits. Hehehe...I could say that I will be on cold feet if anyone ever offered me to work there. I don't want to make any mistake to left Klang Valley in darkness for hours... Huhuhu...

At the end of the day I realize something wonderful happened. My cold was completely gone. I can't understand a bit of this initially but at last I knew it surely has gone while I'm enjoying the trip with my friends. Yes, the trip to Lumut, and especially our time spent in Pangkor Island. For that million thanks to all my friends. I really, really enjoying it plus really, really appreciated it.

Oh, at first I meant to put a video of the plant here but I took nothing of it so for a replacement I put this for your eyes to see. Chiow...

Ain't Convocation nor Conviction

I had to swallow up my pride yesterday. Before this I said repeatedly that I will not joining the convocation after I finished up my study. But then there were no choices left for me as my dad using his 'force' to make me do it. In the end I found it was really tiring and troublesome but somewhat satisfying. The most important thing is the support of my family and my friends. Thanks so much for all the bouquet and gifts. To Miss Siti Aminah, your book was the best. No offend to the others, your gifts and those flowers were so beautiful but I like that book the most. Really.

for the lovely princess, hayati..

looks like you have the problem for letting people leaving their comments rite..??
I'd just found out how to solve this:-

go to your blogger dashboard - at manage blog section select settings (to change settings of your blogs) - at the top, select the comments tab and I bet you know what you'll have to do here...

if you're still not sure, ask for me whenever you want.

...yet I'd lost another one...

Just like everyone else... This post is to show my last respect to my beloved comrade, Hafiz Kamarudin who died in an accident a day ago... Let's just entrust Al-Fatihah to him. It was astounding, considering we knew him for just two month yet it feels like years we've been together. We shall miss you forever, brother...

Will they listen to my speech?

This is a report on my future public speaking session. I must warn you, it is long and boring but please read it till the end

It's been a while since my last post made it's way here. Seems I had been busy enjoying myself and I almost feel like my fingers were avoiding me from blogging.

But I am glad this was a mandatory post. This is about the topic of my public speech - the urge to make English language subject a requirement for everyone to pass their SPM. I guess this is the next hot topic after the PPSMI argument. If they ask me, I will say that they should proceed with teaching students math and science in english and it's just not math and science, all other subjects except Malay language can be tought in english. But, half of my brain said most of the teachers were not ready for it. We should not be afraid of this, we were a step behind but we can catch up easily if we can find the right method to do it.

Back to my speech. Talk about english. Talk about exams. Talk about results. People learning english is troublesome but they were absolutely wrong. I knew a few people who kept saying english was so damn difficult. Still, their results in previous exam proof otherwise. Even though it was not an excellent result they still pass their english exam and judging by their grades, it was not the english subject that cause the problem but it was their mindset that keep saying it was hard. So for my topic I should say that I am agreeing with people who recommended this but there was something I must certain of before I proceed with my speech draft.

There is no need for my full speech draft so I just list down a few points to be argued in my speech :-

  • identifying the people who came up with this idea
  • identifying the significance of applying this rule to SPM candidate
  • how this rule will affect teachers and students
  • teacher/students, should they agree or disagree with this rule
  • more importantly, can this rule improve the students
  • what action should be taken to avoid students failing as a result of executing this rule
  • what is the response received from the public

There are more points of argument to come but I shall leave this post now as it is getting longer and longer but before I finish it I would ask the person who initially selected this topic before me, Miss Que so we can have some discussion.
You were right that this topic has some pros and cons as it is an argumentative topic. So, if a person choose to be a supporter and the other as the opposition it will be easier to elaborate the positives and negatives in
those points. In other words the work to create the speech draft can be cut in half and surely it will my brain something to enjoy - having less troubles to think of. Hehehe...

A little shout

Ehem.. An announcement.. From now on you can drop your comments on this blog. It just some troubles in my settings.

Aah..Slightly untouchables

Yet another disappointment. I got interested in something and I can get nowhere near it. Mr Zainal, my latest English lecturer gave tasks to shoot some videos to make a documentary. Well, I'm not disappointed in that..

What's frustrated me is the video camera. This pitiable sight is similar to the feelings I had towards SLR cameras. They seduced me with their amazing talents, shooting, capturing beautiful videos, and pictures captivating me in their world.

Obviously, the abyss separated me from them is money. My nose nearly bleed every time I read their price tags. Why do they have to be so expensive? For that sum of money I can surely do something or have something that plentiful and bigger. Or actually right now that number is to big for me to have. Insep's allowance is not helping at all. Hahaha...

EOS Rebel XSi EF-S... The price tag is USD 750. Damn...

Ouch… !!!

This week was not really a good week for me. Failing to do something that I ought to do because of my confidence lacking, and now this. Last night on my way back from watching my friends playing at Raja Futsal I met with a little accident. I went back through a dark alley between Perwira Hostel and Taman Maju. My bikes headlight was not functioning and I had to depend on my backup lights that gave me some hint of upcoming obstacles. Usually there is no problem riding through the tiny road even there is a spot with a large gaping hole in the middle. It’s large but not so deep, though. Instinctively I can make it to my home safely but last night I’m out of focus completely while avoiding the meddling hole. I still can’t believe that problem had rip my focus apart but just let bygone be bygone… Hahaha… So a miscalculation made my bike goes out of the road side and seconds later I was disintegrated onto the tarmac. Damn. It took me about a minute to get back up again and felt the pain all over. But I have to thank Allah that I’m still alive and just catch few scratches. So five minutes later I revved the engine and gone home, to meet the pain while cleaning those wounds. In the end I have to say I’m sorry hands, I’m sorry legs and especially to my bike. I’m really, really sorry to turn you into this state. There goes my money again…

Question, songs, and girls – The second part

So, how come Take That’s song comes along in my playlist? The answer is girls. You see, back in secondary school I was in an all-boys boarding school. For four years we’ve been a neighbor of an all-girls boarding school but they seems to be overestimating themselves, considered they are some upper-class school compared to my school. So there isn’t any link for me with that school and the girls. In my form 5 days my school transferred to a site in the middle of a rubber estate. So there were less contact whatsoever with the world outside.

Within these days me and my colleague never interested in relationships. Girls still an attraction to us but we rejected any kind of close relation with them. What do we care is snooker centers, cyber cafes and any entertainment available. All this changed after I met my best friend in polytechnic. At that time it wasn’t so significant because there weren’t any girls in my class. But I sometimes felt awkward and lonely when my friends (I considered them as my own brothers as I don’t have any) gone to date their girlfriends. At first it doesn’t bother me much but after repeatedly left behind (being the only guy with solo title) I made a decision to plunge myself into the strange world of strange mortals. The world of boyfriends and girlfriends. Hahaha…

So I made many initial approaches, all of them met a dead end. I asks for guidance from my brothers as why all my attempt was unsuccessful. This is where the music played their roles. One of my brother said with my personality at that time, even ghosts wouldn’t dare make any contact with me. It has something to do with the aggression that overshadowed me.

He gave me a tiny piece of advice. To soften my heart. He told me it was so cold that I will face difficulties to make an approach to a girl (this sounds so stupid but I found out that it is true). But with this advice comes a problem. How can I achieve this? Then he gave me another idea, start listening to love songs. At first I threw him some bad words. This almost sounds like madness. Me? Listening to lame songs? At last I surrendered and what he told me.

It was unexpected but been changed slightly after that. Until now I was unsure if the idea of listening to love songs really worked out but there are some progress. From nil, I have made friends with some girls (otherwise I never even talk to them). Even so, like people used to said a battle may be won, but the war still far from over. That is what falls onto me. I may have improved my communication with females, but made no ground when it comes to companionship. Simpler to say, girlfriend – none. Well I let that to be for now as I reached my objective of finishing this post. Those who slept or puked or both, I’m truly sorry… Hahaha…

Question, songs, and girls – The first part

Again, some pointless talk in my blog. This time it is about every man’s favorite. Females. But I have to apologize this isn’t going to be an ultra-enjoyable post about girls for you, but I just had a feeling to post it anyway. A warning, this post has potentials to make you puke or sick because I will tell you some story of my personal life.

I reckon none of you ever really knew me. I mean really, really knew me. So it is not surprising many people simply misunderstood me. I was moved to write this post because of a question asked by a friend. She asked me of the song I downloaded, sang by Take That (some old school guys back in 90’s I guess). She said it is weird that someone like me would have interest in listening anything like it because it seems not suits my appearance.

Well, this is not the first time this situation happened. So I ignored the question and go on with my downloads. Truth is, this is not me a few years ago. There weren’t any sentimental, romantic or passionate songs in my collections. Just bands with wicked music, ruthless lyrics and horrid album covers. In other words, almost all of it labeled ‘explicit content’ or unlabelled at all.

Unnoticed yet annoying

What's small, have wings and sometimes annoy to death?

Everyone knew the answer, that damn pesky little suckers. Who love to halt your
sleeps and make your hands busy scratching. Hehehe..

These little ones always become my number one enemy before my body landed on bedsheets
anywhere, especially in Parit Raja. Sometimes I even sacrifices my time to sleep just to hunt them down, terminating every single one of them.

Even as I was typing this post down they were planning strategies to steal my tasty blood. Just you wait, little ones...!! huhuhu

Two wheels + Skill + Compassion - Fear = Insanity

They said never let a mad guy ride a bike. Well I say don't you ever let two guys ride two bikes, very powerful bikes, in a brilliant racing circuit and makes them competes for glory.

I bet the result you'll get definitely will be pure lunacy.

This is what I had seen last Sunday. Total chaos, limitless madness, genuine bravery, mindless stunts, absurd speed, heart-stopping battle at Barcelona. I reckon if I was there at Circuit de Catalunya, I'd collapse being awed by the excellent, dazzling performance of the duo riders of my favourite Fiat Yamaha motoGP team. That is of course, the genius of two wheels Valentino Rossi and the unsung young hero Jorge Lorenzo.

No introduction required for these two. One is an eight-time premier class world champion and the other is a motoGP rookie, 250 cc double world champion. I regretted of watching it at lap 10.
(the very beginning of a race is very important). When I started watching it was Lorenzo up in front with Rossi and Casey Stoner trailing less than 0.5 seconds behind.

The next ten laps is an obvious race until it came to the last 7 laps. This is when the madness arrived. This is why I say, anyone who loves racing must watch this race's replay. The brilliant maneuvers of overtaking plus overtaken was so great it made tears gathered at the bottom of my eyes. (really, it was so damn superb)

Just watch this last lap for proof of this race's brilliance.

Kill my love

Enough of my lifeless days In Parit Raja. I’m focusing on my favorite sport now, as there will be a huge risk that I will lose it to some stupid man’s stupid idea and mostly it came out from that stupid Mosley. I’m talking about F1’s latest stupid conflict here. The idiotic cost cap that can make even Proton enters the world of Formula One. Well, at one point I could say it is a very good thing if Proton participating in F1 but what will happen to the prestigious, astonishing races ever?

I strongly am denied of any interest for this sport when some cheap cars contending in the formidable race tracks soon. 40 million worth of cash could hardly get your car to some breathtaking speed and maneuvers. At least I believe so. It could be like watching mid 80’s races minus the great drivers, Senna, Prost, Hill et cetera. What technology that can be use with 40 million? I think that they could not afford even for some Bridgestone’s tires after this (Sime tires, anyone?). Hahaha…

Two tiers race? Come on, how ridiculous can this be? High tech cars with neck breaking speed in the same track as a slowpoke bulldozer-like handling cheap race machine? I bet it’ll be as interesting as watching some mad guy racing with a horse/camel or something. This is not an endurance race man. This is not a race of some super tourings. This is Formula One. A two tier race definitely kills the excitement, of course. Believe me.

Parit Raja, oh my Parit Raja…

My third entry in this glorious wonderful blog. This entry came out of the boredom that overwhelms our life in this happy town. I don’t know whether there is anyone caring enough to read my blog but if you are reading this, million thanks to you all. Maybe I should buy you drinks or something. I’m doing this from my room after I woke up 4 o’clock in the evening, my housemate nowhere to be found and all of my dirty laundry found no place to be wash. Damn again…

Almost all of the guys already gone home causing my half soulless body drifting on my bike to seek any spots that I can go to, before I realize there was really nothing here. So I went back to my home where my old acquaintance that always awaits for me in Parit Raja, my PC.

I have no internet connection so I have to post this at a cybercafé (at least the CC’s is not closing on Saturday here). Glad it helped kill some of my time before the time is killing me. Sometimes I had to hate weekends I had to spend here, as the loneliness will be my partner for that couple of days. Damn how I wish I had a girlfriend here. Hahaha…

But hey, there’s some bright side of this. The least I can do is to show you place where to do this and that in Batu Pahat and Parit Raja if you want to. If you had trouble to find where’s where please don’t hesitate to ask me. No charge applied. Hahaha…

Haha..!!Another stupid blog was born..

This is the thing I hate most in my life...
I never started blogging ever in my life before and it is to prevent something..

ADDICTION.

Please proceed if you are willing and close this window if you're already bored.Please.

I don't know where this trait comes from.
It is my custom that I will addicted to everything new I tried..

I use to hate people that keen on friendster.
But then, when I tried it the first time I became an addict.

I use to hate touching a bowling ball, and the view of the lane.
But then, when I tried it the first time I became an addict.

I use to hate people singing in karaoke box.
I use to slept in it.
But then, when I tried it the first time I became an addict.

I use to hate traveling by buses.
But then, when I met a nice girl on one, I became an addict.

And now..My lecturer told me to create a blog..
And I was very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, hesitated to do so..
In an instant, I became an addict to blogs..Damn..

Why flat..??

Have you ever experienced a day when you feel..
your body exhausted like hell and your mind drifted into endless space continuum..??
